ASSEMBLING THE UNSEEN (IN DEVELOPMENT)

A PEEK Artistic Research Project into the historical encounter between Austrian traveller Ida Pfeiffer and Queen Ranavalona I of Madagascar in 1857.

Confronted with fragmented archives and colonial narratives, the project asks how film can reveal alternative perspectives on history, particularly the stories of women whose voices have been silenced or distorted.

Through film-based artistic research, the project challenges conventional documentary storytelling, using cinematic imagination to explore what remains unknown. Rather than reconstructing a definitive historical truth, it seeks new ways of understanding the past through its gaps and contradictions.
