SOTELSEK READS BACHMANN
As part of the exhibition Writing Against War: Ingeborg Bachmann 1926–1973, Barbara Sotelsek conceived and performed a series of four literary readings at the Austrian Embassy in Berlin.
The performances explored different aspects of Bachmann’s work, particularly her engagement with war, language, memory, female identity and human relationships. Drawing on poetry, prose and personal correspondence, the readings situated Bachmann’s writing within its biographical and historical context.
Together with actors Karen Böhne and Carsten Clemens, as well as musical guests, Sotelsek developed a series of performances bringing literature, voice and music into dialogue.
The series took place between May and August 2024, following Sotelsek’s reading at the exhibition's opening in April.
